Total Lunar Eclipse of April 4, 2015 The moon will be totally eclipsed for about five minutes on April 4, 2015. This is the shortest total eclipse during the 21st Century.
The clock above shows Universal Time (UTC). You can determine how many hours ahead or behind it your time zone is by comparing it to what time it is where you are. No changes are made to Universal Time for Daylight Saving Time (which is sometimes known as Summer Time or by other names in some places). Rather, the time zone where Daylight Saving Time is used adds an hour when it begins or and takes the hour off when it ends. |
This table shows the times of the eclipse phases in some major cities and a few smaller ones around the world using the time zones and summer time shifts expected to be in effect when the eclipse happens. Definitely double check this in case a change has escaped my attention! And of course, if you spot an error, send SkyCaramba a message. Hopefully, you will find this table useful in converting the event times to your time zone. Be sure to identify a city that is in the same time zone. Also be careful about those seasonal time shifts. Not all places do them at the same time. Some don't do them at all. Finally, if at your location the moon rises or sets between any of the event times, you'll miss part of the eclipse. You can check on that with the map above. The 24-hour time system is used below. Universal Time is included primarily for reference. Only those in the extreme southermost part of that time zone will see the eclipse. SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT NEW ZEALAND: New Zealand will be on New Zealand Daylight Time when the eclipse begins but on New Zealand Standard Time when it ends. All times given below for Wellington and Auckland are in New Zealand Daylight Time. |
